Five Lourdes Men’s Volleyball Players Earn MAMVIC East Honors


Lourdes University's men's volleyball team had two players earn First Team All-MAMVIC East honors, two others receive Honorable Mention All-MAMVIC East accolades, and a fifth named to the MAMVIC East All-Academic Team as the league announced its annual award winners.
 
Brad Miller (Convoy, Ohio/Crestview H.S.) and Nick DiMarco (Torrance, Calif./South Torrance H.S.) were each named to the First Team while Frank Craig (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood H.S.) and Trevor Lund (Laguna Hills, Calif./Laguna Hills H.S.) were both Honorable Mention selections.  Zander Epps (San Diego, Calif./Eastlake H.S.) picked up All-Academic Team honors.
 
Miller led Lourdes and finished the season ranked second in the nation with 291 total digs, an average of 3.06 per set.  The sophomore served as the Gray Wolves' libero in his first year at the school and was the only player to appear in all 95 sets for Lourdes.  DiMarco led the Gray Wolves with 354 kills on the year, an average of 4.02 per set.  He ranked third in the country in kills per set and fifth in total kills.  The senior outside hitter posted a .244 hitting percentage and led Lourdes with 21 service aces as well.
 
Craig had Lourdes top hitting percentage this season at .258, tallying 183 total kills (1.95 per set).  The sophomore middle blocker led the Gray Wolves with 70 blocks.  Lund finished second on the team with 217 kills (2.82 per set), hitting .234 on the year.  An outside hitter, Lund added 111 digs and 31 blocks on the campaign.
 
Epps, a senior, was second on the team with 57 blocks while hitting .241.  An interdisciplinary studies major, he sports a 3.71 cumulative grade point average.
 
Lourdes finished the 2013 season with a 15-11 record overall and a 7-5 mark in MAMVIC East action.  The Gray Wolves advanced to the semifinals of the MAMVIC East tournament.
