Playing on a snowy Friday afternoon at the Madonna Athletic Complex in Livonia, Mich., second-ranked Lourdes opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action with a convincing 19-1 victory over Madonna.

"We didn't allow the elements to play a part today," head coach
Patrick Yannarelli said afterwards. "It was a complete team effort and everyone played hard and smart."

Lourdes scored 10 goals in the opening quarter and coasted to its fifth victory of the season, remaining undefeated on the year. The Gray Wolves outshot the Crusaders 52-11 for the day and held a 43-11 advantage in ground balls, including a 24-3 edge over the opening 30 minutes.

Dalton Vowles (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) led the way with four goals and three assists, tallying all seven points in the opening quarter.Â
D.J. Harris (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg H.S.) added three goals while
Mark O'Bryant (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights H.S.) had a five-point day with two goals and three assists.

Reuben Lopez (Swanton, Ohio/Evergreen H.S.) had multi-goal games as well.Â

Michael Kolodin scored the lone goal of the game for Madonna (1-5, 0-3 WHAC) with 2:48 remaining in the contest.

Lourdes (5-0, 1-0) will open the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Concordia (Mich.). The opening faceoff is set for 6 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
