Lourdes closed out the road portion of the 2019 regular season on a rainy Wednesday afternoon, falling to Concordia (Mich.) 2-1 at Cardinal Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Cardinals outshot Lourdes 12-4 in the opening stanza, but the match remained scoreless until the closing seconds. Megan Starkey sent a ball in and Samantha Golchuk finished in the box with just 3.5 seconds remaining until intermission to give Concordia the lead at the break.

The Gray Wolves tied the match at one just 4:49 into the second half.Â
Jayla Musselman (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) sent a corner kick into the box and
Katie Varney (Brownstown, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) got her head on the ball and directed it into the net for her fifth goal of the season, tying her for the team lead. For Mussleman, it was her first collegiate assist.

Golchuk notched the match-winner for Concordia with 23:51 to play in the contest after dribbling up the left wing, splitting defenders, and shooting once she was inside the penalty area.

Lourdes had a chance to score the equalizer in the closing seconds.Â
Jules Snowden (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming H.S.) sent a header toward the goal that hit off the crossbar and stayed out.

Concordia (8-8, 5-5 WHAC) finished the match with an 18-11 shot advantage, including a 9-6 edge on net.Â
Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made seven saves for the Gray Wolves while Anna Roman made four stops for the Cardinals.

Lourdes (8-8, 4-6) will close out the regular season at home on Friday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves entertain Siena Heights. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
