Lourdes saw its 2019 men's lacrosse season come to an end on Tuesday evening, as the Gray Wolves fell to Lawrence Tech 13-9 in the opening round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament held at Harrison High School in Farmington Hills, Mich.

Blake Alexander (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights H.S.) scored five times for the Gray Wolves while
Nick Johnson (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) and
Chad Causley (Clinton Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse H.S.) each found the back of the cage twice.

Lourdes (7-7), the tournament's fifth seed, struck first just 58 seconds into the game as Johnson scored his first of two tallies in the period. Lawrence Tech responded with three consecutive tallies before Johnson tallied his second of the quarter with 47 seconds remaining to pull the Gray Wolves within one, 3-2, after 15 minutes.

Lawrence Tech, the fourth seed, scored three of the first four goals of the second quarter before Alexander and Causley scored back-to-back goals to pull Lourdes within one, 6-5, with 6:51 to play in the half. The Blue Devils tallied one final goal before halftime to build a two-goal advantage at the break.

Leading 9-7 with under four minutes to play in the third quarter, the Blue Devils scored four times in a seven-minute span to push the advantage to six, 13-7, with 11:38 to play. Neither team would score for the next 10 minutes before Alexander scored a pair of goals in the final two minutes to close out the scoring.

Patrick Yannarelli said following the game. "We are grateful for the help from the SIDs, Trainers, Field managers, and administration. All of the players are looking to work hard and improve this summer."

The Blue Devils finished with a 47-25 advantage in shots on the day, including a 28-19 edge on net.Â
Tyler Hart (Brighton, Mich./Brighton H.S.) made 15 saves in the cage for the Gray Wolves while Joel Trent made 10 saves for Lawrence Tech (10-5), including seven in the final 15 minutes.

Justin Light and Jacob Flood each scored four times to lead the Blue Devils. Lawrence Tech finished with a 29-19 edge in ground balls.Â
Ian Paige (Flat Rock, Mich./Saint Mary Catholic Central H.S.) led Lourdes with three ground balls.
