Abigail Mann (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) became Lourdes' career leader in goals on Wednesday afternoon but Madonna scored 1:06 into overtime as the Crusaders defeated the Gray Wolves 2-1 at Wildcat Stadium.
Trailing 1-0, Mann knocked a ball down about 25 yards from goal, spun, and fired into the top left corner of the goal to even the match at one. The tally was the 15
th of her career, passing Karlie O'Keefe (2016-2019) on the school's all-time scoring list.
Madonna (12-0, 6-0 WHAC) had taken the lead just 16:01 into the contest as Grace Thomas scored from the right side of the box after Sydnie Voss' pass went through the penalty area.
The match remained tied through the second half and into the extra session when Victoria Sia picked up a bouncing ball and scored the decisive goal, handing Lourdes its first defeat in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action this season.
The Crusaders finished the match with a 24-11 shot advantage, but
Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) made six saves to keep the Gray Wolves in the contest. Brooke Bruletti made four saves in goal for Madonna.
Lourdes (6-2-5, 3-1-2) will take to the road on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Washington Township, Mich. to face Rochester (Mich.). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Michigan Stars Sports Center.
