Lourdes recorded its second shutout in three matches to start the spring after notching a 2-0 clean sheet against Point Park on Friday afternoon at Total Sports in Rossford, Ohio.
"I am extremely proud of the quality on the field today," head coach
Jackie Phillips said after the win. "The girls are committing to the process and it is starting to show."
The Gray Wolves found the scoreboard first midway through the opening half as
Abigail Mann (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) scored from outside the 18 for her second goal of the season.
Lourdes added to its lead just before intermission, as
Elaina Hillman (Woodhaven, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) sent in a ball that
McKenzie Klingensmith (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls H.S.) headed in for her first collegiate tally. The assist was Hillman's first of the season as well.
The Pioneers held a 6-4 edge in shots in the first half though, including a 3-2 edge on goal, but could not find the back of the net.
Neither team would score after intermission.
Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) recorded her eighth career shutout, making six saves between the posts for the Gray Wolves. Ella Serlin made six stops as well for Point Park (8-4).
Lourdes (2-6) will resume Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves host Northwestern Ohio. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
