Lourdes played its fourth straight home doubleheader on Saturday, dropping both ends of the twinbill to Aquinas 10-2 and 6-5 at Gray Wolf Field.
The Saints started quickly in the opener, scoring six times in the first inning before adding four more runs in the second to build a 10-0 lead.
Lourdes broke through on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third as
Annalisse Palma (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) reached on an error and eventually scored on a two-out double by
Emily Wallace (Thornville, Ohio/Lakewood H.S.). The Gray Wolves added another run in the fifth as Palma singled and scored on a squeeze bunt by
Megan Richardson (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.).
The Gray Wolves managed just five hits in the opener.
In game two, Aquinas (15-5, 7-1 WHAC) plated two quick runs in the first before adding another in the third.
Kayla Gauthier (Linwood, Mich./Pinconning H.S.) broke up the shutout with a home run to left in the fourth before the Saints added single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Hailey Cramer (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) singled home Richards, who doubled, with two outs in the sixth. After the Saints tacked on an insurance run in the seventh Lourdes tried to rally with two outs.
Alyssa Ziegler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) doubled home two runs and Richardson followed with a two-bagger of her own, pulling the Gray Wolves within one. Lourdes could not complete the comeback though.
Ziegler and Richardson each had two hits for Lourdes in the nightcap.
Lourdes (4-23, 1-7) is scheduled to conclude its 10-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon hosting Madonna in a make-up contest. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:30 p.m. at Gray Wolf Field.
