Lourdes saw its 2021 softball season come to a close on Sunday afternoon dropping a pair of games to Lawrence Tech, the opener by an 8-4 score and the finale 3-2 in 11 innings at Detroit Country Day in Southfield, Mich.
 
After allowing two second inning runs in the opener, Lourdes took the lead in the top of the third.  Alyssa Ziegler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) singled home Kim Waters (Belleville, Mich./Lincoln H.S.) before Ella Leonard (Lorain, Ohio/Midview H.S.) doubled home Megan Richardson (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.) to tie the game.  A wild pitch then plated Ziegler, giving Lourdes a 3-2 lead.
 
Lawrence Tech responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to retake the lead before the Gray Wolves tied the game on Kayla Gauthier's (Linwood, Mich./Pinconning H.S.) third home run of the season, tying the game at four.
 
The game remained knotted until the bottom of the fifth with the Blue Devils scored four times to take the lead for good on the way to the win.
 
Ziegler and Waters each had two hits as the Gray Wolves tallied nine total in game one.
 
The nightcap was a pitcher's dual throughout.  Ashley Roth (LaRue, Ohio/Elgin H.S.) went 10.2 innings in the circle, allowing just two earned runs and seven this while striking out six, but the Blue Devils scratched across a run in the 11^th for the win.
 
Trailing 1-0 in the fifth, Hailey Cramer (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) singled home Ziegler to tie the game at one.
 
The game remained tied into extra innings when Lourdes took the lead in the ninth.  With two outs, Annalisse Palma (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) reached on an error scoring Ashley Riley (Oak Harbor, Ohio/Oak Harbor H.S.), giving the Gray Wolves a 2-1 advantage.
 
Lawrence Tech (17-18, 8-12 WHAC) tied the game in the bottom of the ninth and won the game with a two-out single in the bottom of the 11^th.
 
Riley had three hits to lead the Lourdes (6-33, 3-17) offense in game two as both teams managed just seven hits in the 11 innings.
