Lourdes picked up its first victory on the mat in program history on Saturday evening, defeating Hiram 34-10 before falling to 10
th-ranked Indiana Tech 25-11 at the Hiram Duals inside of Price Gymnasium in Hiram, Ohio.

"We saw a lot of improvement today and it's always great to get our first team win," head coach
Louis Piszker said afterwards. "The girls came out after a long break and wrestled very well. We are starting to see the results of the hard work they have been putting in. We are excited for the holiday break and looking forward to coming back and wrestling the conference schedule."

Marisol Romo (Houston, Texas/Foster H.S.) started the Gray Wolves' victory with a pin midway through the second period in her 109-pound bout against Hiram.Â
Stefana Jelacic (Mesa, Ariz./Chandler H.S.) was then credited with a forfeit victory at 116 before
Maria Hoffman (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) registered her first collegiate fall at 1:53 of the first period in her 123-pound match.

Brielle Newland (Reedsville, Ohio/Eastern H.S.) earned her first collegiate victory with a 10-0 tech fall at 130 pounds before
Julia Padilla (Covina, Calif./Northview H.S.) scored a fall just 1:10 into her 136-pound match in her Lourdes debut.Â
Bailey Hackett (Brookfield, Ohio/Brookfield H.S.) and
Peyton Curley (Dover, Ohio/Dover H.S.) were both credited with forfeit wins at 155 and 170 pounds respectively.

In the match against Indiana Tech, Padilla scored an 8-0 decision at 136 pounds while Hackett earned another forfeit victory for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes (1-1) will have four weeks off before opening Mid-South Conference action at home on Jan. 13. The Gray Wolves will entertain Siena Heights and Cumberlands (Ky.) inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center beginning at 5 p.m.
