Lourdes moved back to the .500 mark in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves defeated Rochester (Mich.) 20-3 at Wisner Stadium in Pontiac, Mich.
Amelia McCourt (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Bloomfield Hills H.S.) scored six times to go along with two assists and
Sarah Przyojski (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) added five more goals as eight different Gray Wolves found the back of the net on the evening.
"After last week's tough games, we came into today's game mentally and physically ready to put our practice into action," head coach
Sierra Wagoner said afterwards. "Every player on our team performed their job and put in the work to successfully come up with the win. We worked together as a team and had multiple key players in today's game. I couldn't be happier for this team."
Lourdes scored the first five goals, including four by McCourt, on the way to a 7-1 lead after one quarter. The advantage grew to 14-1 by intermission, and the Gray Wolves added three more goals in each stanza in the second half.
Jordin Rawski (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) found the back of the cage three times while
Sydney Duran (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) also had a multi-goal game.
Rayanne Lehman (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) scored her first collegiate goal while
Emiliana Taylor (Granger, Ind./Saint Joseph H.S.) also scored for the first time this season.
Kylie Turner (Ridgeway, Ohio/Ridgemont H.S.) and
Kayla Dillinger (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney H.S.) each had goals as well for the Gray Wolves.
Lourdes outshot Rochester (0-5, 0-4 WHAC) 31-6 for the game, with
Maddie Wadesisi (Cleveland, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) making a pair of saves.
McCourt also had six draw controls for the Gray Wolves while Duran picked up a team-high four ground balls.
Lourdes (2-3, 2-2) will host top-ranked Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium. The opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
