Lourdes saw its season come to an end on Tuesday evening as the Gray Wolves dropped a 7-3 decision to Siena Heights in the quarterfinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament at O'Laughlin Stadium in Adrian, Mich.

Lourdes (7-7), the tournament's sixth seed, took the early lead as
Chad Causley (Clinton Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse H.S.) scored just over five minutes into the contest.
Nick Johnson (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) followed exactly three minutes later, giving the Gray Wolves a 2-0 advantage with 6:51 to play in the opening quarter.
The third-seeded Saints answered with a pair of goals before the period ended to tie the game and took the lead at the 8:17 mark of the second quarter. The Gray Wolves responded as
Caden Louthan (Dripping Springs, Texas/Dripping Springs H.S.) found the back of the cage with just 52 ticks left on the clock before halftime and the two schools entered the locker room tied at three.
Neither team scored in the first 10 minutes of the third before the Saints scored with 4:28 to play in the period to take the lead. Siena Heights added another goal in the final minute of the quarter to take a 5-3 advantage into the final 15 minutes.
Siena Heights (9-5) added an insurance goal with 3:22 left in the fourth quarter and added another with 1:21 remaining on the way to advancing to the semifinals.
The two teams each had 32 shot attempts on the night with
George Hoexum (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern H.S.) making six saves in the cage for the Gray Wolves. Lourdes had a 29-27 edge in ground balls, led by Hoexum leading the way with eight. Siena Heights won nine of the 12 faceoffs in the contest.
