Lourdes had its season-opening six-match unbeaten streak come to a close on Wednesday evening as the University of Northwestern Ohio defeated the Gray Wolves 2-0 at Wildcat Stadium.
The Racers jumped in front in the 32nds minute as Lorna Campos fired a shot from the left side of the penalty area into the net from 30 yards out for the match's first goal.
The contest remained 1-0 Northwestern Ohio into halftime despite Lourdes holding a 7-5 shot advantage. The Racers then added an insurance tally with 35:07 to play. Following a foul in the box, Patricia Gomez connected from the penalty spot for the game's final margin.
Lourdes finished with a 12-8 shot advantage with
Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) making three saves for the Gray Wolves. Ilke Brandsma made two saves for Northwestern Ohio (3-5-1, 1-0-1 WHAC) in the victory.
Lourdes (3-1-3, 1-1) takes to the road on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Southfield, Mich. to face Lawrence Tech. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Blue Devils Stadium.
