Lourdes gave seventh-ranked Aquinas all it could handle on Saturday afternoon, but the Saints scored a goal with just 53 seconds remaining to defeat the Gray Wolves 1-0 at Wildcat Stadium.
The Gray Wolf defense fended off the Saints throughout the match as Aquinas held a 22-2 shot advantage for the contest.
Emmy Rodger (Romeo, Mich./Romeo H.S.) had eight saves to keep Lourdes close. The Saints also had all 10 of the corner kick opportunities in the contest.
Aquinas (11-0-2, 6-0-1) found the back of the net in the final minute as Laia Cunill took a corner kick and sent it into the box where Olivia Bowling headed the ball to the far post for the match-winning goal.
Lourdes (4-8-1, 1-6) will take to the road for its next three matches, beginning on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to battle Concordia (Mich.). Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium.
