Lourdes wrapped up action at the Patriot Duals on Saturday with three victories inside the UC Volleyball Gym in Williamsburg, Ky.
The 20
th-ranked Gray Wolves opened with a 34-15 victory over Lincoln Memorial before downing Saint Andrews 30-6. Lourdes closed the event with a 40-5 triumph over Liberty.
"Today we handled our business and will take this positive momentum into the holiday break," head coach
Louis Piszker said afterwards. "I'm proud of how the girls responded today. We will use the break to get healthy as we gear up the Mid-South schedule and the posteason."
Against Lincoln Memorial,
Phylicia Sudario (Corona, Calif./Corona H.S.) registered a pin just 41 seconds into the match at 143 pounds for her first collegiate victory while
Kelcey Dew (Sunbury, Ohio/Hayes H.S.) earned a 10-0 tech fall at 130 pounds. The Gray Wolves also were awarded four forfeit wins.
Sudario earned another victory on the mat against Saint Andrews, scoring a 10-0 tech fall while
Desiree Vazquez (Corona, Calif./Northview H.S.) won by the same score at 136 pounds for the Gray Wolves. Again, Lourdes picked up another four wins via forfeits.
In the finale against Liberty, Vazquez registered a first period fall at the 1:07 mark while Sudario capped her perfect day with a pin of her own one minute into her contest.
Payton Curley (Dover, Ohio/Dover H.S.) added another fall at the 2:13 mark of her 171-pound match while
Allie Phillips (Los Angeles, Keppel H.S.) scored a pin 35 seconds into her 190-pound contest to close the day. The Gray Wolves also had four wins via forfeit against the Flames.
Lourdes (4-3) will be idle until 2024 when the Gray Wolves begin Mid-South Conference action on Jan. 12 facing Cumberlands (Ky.) and Siena Heights in Adrian, Mich. The matches are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively inside the SHU Fieldhouse.
