Lourdes dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon to the University of Northwestern Ohio by scores of 3-0 and 7-4 at Racer Field in Lima, Ohio.
 
The Racers scored all three of their runs in the second inning of game one, one of which was unearned, and allowed the pitching of Carlie Hanes to be the difference.  Hanes went the distance, scattering just four this while striking out five.
 
Lourdes lone threat came in the top of the second, loading the bases with two outs, but was unable to convert.  Hanes retired the final 10 Gray Wolves in order to end the game.
 
In the second contest, Northwestern Ohio (19-12, 8-2 WHAC) again plated three runs in the second to take the lead. 
 
The Gray Wolves battled back to tie the game in the fifth.  Emily Wallace (Thornville, Ohio/Lakewood H.S.) singled home the first run and Olivia Hickman (Trenton, Mich./Trenton H.S.) delivered a two-run single later in the inning to tie the game.
 
The Racers immediately responded in the bottom of the fifth with four runs of their own.  Lourdes added one final run in the sixth on a two-out double by Wallace.
 
Lourdes had 11 hits in the nightcap, including two each by Wallace, Maddy Bartos (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.), Megan Richardson (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon H.S.), and Maddie Darrah (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.).
 
Lourdes (5-19, 0-8) returns home on Monday morning for a make-up doubleheader against Aquinas.  The first pitch in game one of the twinbill is set for 11 a.m. at Gray Wolf Field.
