Taking to the mat for five Mid-South Conference matches on Friday afternoon, Lourdes registered one victory at the Warrior Duals held in Fort Wayne, Ind.
"We did not wrestle to the best of our ability today," head coach
Louis Piszker said afterwards. "We will get back to work next week to clean things up before our final two duals of the regular season."
The Gray Wolves opened with a 26-14 victory over St. Andrews. Lourdes registered the win without a victory on the mat, as just two bouts were contested. The Gray Wolves captured five matches via forfeits.
In match two, second-ranked Life won all 10 bouts on the way to a 45-2 triumph over the Gray Wolves.
Allie Phillips (Los Angeles, Calif./Keppel H.S.) dropped the tightest match at 191 pounds, falling in a 5-1 decision.
Brewton Parker then edged Lourdes 19-17 in the middle contest.
Shanna Morris (Marion, Ohio/Harding H.S.) opened with a 7-2 decision at 101 pounds while
Kelcey Dew (Sunbury, Ohio/Hayes H.S.) picked up a 10-0 tech fall at 130 pounds. The Gray Wolves also picked up a pair of wins via forfeits.
Lourdes then battled ninth-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.), falling in a 40-6 match.
Katrina Cortez (Corona, Calif./Corona H.S.) recorded the lone Gray Wolf victory in the dual, pinning her opponent at 136 pounds late in the opening period with 19 seconds remaining.
The day closed as the Gray Wolves dropped a 31-17 decision to Siena Heights.
Maria Hoffman (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) picked up a 12-2 tech fall at 123 pounds before Cortez notched another win in a 10-0 tech fall. Phillips closed the day with her second victory, a 10-0 tech fall as well. Lourdes added another win via forfeit.
Lourdes (6-8, 1-5 MSC) will return to Indiana Tech on Saturday as several individuals take part in the Warrior Open. Action begins at 9 a.m.
