Women’s Soccer Tops Michigan-Dearborn in 3-1 Road Victory

DEARBORN, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's soccer team continued their strong performance on Saturday, securing a 3-1 victory against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponent, the University of Michigan-Dearborn on the road. This win marks the team's 11th victory of the season, continuing the season's program record for single-season wins.

With this conference triumph, the Gray Wolves improved their league record to 8-3, solidifying their position in the standings. The overall season record now stands at 11-3-1, further enhancing the best performance in program history.

Sophomore Taylir Lynam opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a well-placed shot, assisted by junior Sophia Larabee. The Gray Wolves extended their lead to 2-0 when Larabee scored with an assist from Emily Wade.

In the 83rd minute, sophomore Rylie Jones netted her first career goal, benefiting from a setup by freshman Alexia Ostrander, pushing the score to 3-0. The host Wolverines responded quickly, scoring in the 84th minute, but it was not enough to overcome the Gray Wolves, who ultimately claimed a 3-1 victory.

In goal was senior goalkeeper Emmy Roger, who picked up her 11th win of the season. Roger posted zero saves for the first time this season as the Wolverines charted just one shot on frame, which was the goal.

Match Notes:

  • Head Coach Jackie Phillip (70-81-20) is 11-3-1 on the season, the best in program history, thus far. Prior to the 2024 campaign, the 2022 team held the record for most single-season wins with their nine. That squad finished the regular-season 9-5-4.
  • Additionally, the conference victory marked the eighth of the season, also a program-record, topping the six from the 2022 campaign. In that season, the Gray Wolves finished 6-4-1 in the WHAC and advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Lawrence Tech University, 1-0 in the opening-round. Lourdes then fell 2-0 to Madonna in the semi's, which was the first semi-finals appearance for the Gray Wolves, to conclude the post-season.
  • The women's team has made an appearance in six WHAC tournaments with the 2022 team going the furthest.
