WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's wrestling team competed in the Patriot Duals on December 6-7, hosted by the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. The Gray Wolves had a challenging weekend, finishing 3-6 overall in dual competition and claiming 5th place in Pool 2.
Lourdes' first few matches were tough, as they fell to Emmanuel (34-13), the University of the Cumberlands Blue Team (41-4), Lindsey Wilson (29-9), Campbellsville Black (29-20), and Life Black (30-20). Despite these setbacks, the team showed resilience in their next matches. They secured a 24-19 victory over Siena Heights, followed by a narrow 21-18 win over Liberty. The team then capped off their tournament with a thrilling 25-24 victory over Cumberlands Red.
Key individual performances highlighted Lourdes' success at the tournament. Stefana Jelacic had an outstanding run, finishing with a perfect 9-0 record. Her victories included wins over nationally ranked opponents, including #8 and #18. Allie Phillips also performed exceptionally well, posting a 7-1 record and securing wins over #12 and #19 ranked wrestlers.
