Stefana Jelacic (Mesa, Ariz./Chandler H.S.) captured the first national title in school history on Saturday evening, winning the 101-pound weight class at the NAIA National Championships held inside Herald Newman Arena in Jamestown, N.D.

"I couldn't be prouder of Stefana and the work she has put in since the end of last season," head coach
Louis Piszker said afterwards. "It has not been an easy road for her, but she bought into what Coach Sugey (Ceja) and I were trying to establish once we took over the program. Stefana truly earned this title and to make history at Lourdes."

Jelacic, the tournament's second seed, opened the day with a 12-1 tech fall against third-seeded Kayla McKinley-Johnson, the third seed from Menlo. She then took control in the title bout facing top-seeded Erin Hikiji of Providence (Mont.). Jelacic led 8-2 after the opening period on her way to a 12-3 decision and the title.

Jelacic finished the season with a 24-1 record overall. The three-time NAIA All-American is 49-6 during her collegiate career with the Gray Wolves.

As a team, the Gray Wolves finished the championships with 27.5 points, placing 18
th overall.
