Lourdes wrapped up the 2024 softball season on Sunday afternoon, dropping both games of a doubleheader 8-0 and 8-3 to 16
th-ranked Madonna at University Field in Livonia, Mich.
In the opener, the Gray Wolves managed just three hits against the Crusaders, with
Brooke Albert (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights H.S.) tallying two of them, including a lead-off triple to begin the game.
Madonna jumped in front with three runs in the third before adding two more in the fourth and three more to close out the game in the fifth.
In game two, Madonna (40-3, 18-0 WHAC) took the lead with a run in the first before adding four in the second. The Gray Wolves broke through on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth as
Emily Wallace (Thornville, Ohio/Lakewood H.S.) hit her second home run of the season, and ninth of her career to into a tie for fourth place on the program's all-time list, matching the total of Hayley Roberts (2013-2016).
The Crusaders would answer with three runs in the bottom of the inning on the way to the win.
Lourdes (13-29, 7-15) managed just four hits in the nightcap, including two by
Lindsey McGann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson H.S.).
