SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) --
Payton Childers continues to impress as she nets her second consecutive game-winner, this time against the Warriors of Indiana Tech University at Wildcat Stadium to keep the Lourdes University women's soccer team undefeated with a 6-0-1 season record.
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference home match improved the team's league record to 3-0, making Lourdes one of three members to hold clean 1.000 win percentages in conference play.
Childers, who scored her third consecutive career goal, netted the second game-winner of her career with a strike late in the second half. The freshman took advantage of a ricocheted shot on frame from
Kayden Firson, who put Childers in the position to send one home and ultimately claim the win.
As a team, the Gray Wolves churned in 19 shots, 10 of which were on frame, to the opposing single shot on goal from the Warriors.
Defensively, senior
Emmy Rodger continued her defensive stance on the team, facing one shot on frame which was saved for another clean sheet.
Match Notes:
- Head Coach Jackie Phillip's (65-79-20) is 6-0-1 to start the season for the first time in program history, her best.
- Nationally, the Gray Wolves currently stand as one of just 11 NAIA teams to hold an undefeated record on the season.
- Childers scored her fourth collegiate goal, the third consecutive and the second game-winner in a row with tonight's win.
- In goal for the seventh time this season was Roger, who turned in her 31st career clean sheet with the 1-nil win.
- The win marked the third conference victory of the season.
