CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (LourdesAthletics.com) --Â The Lourdes University women's wrestling team faced strong competition during the two-day NWCA National Duals at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa, from January 10-11. The Gray Wolves placed fourth in the NAIA 13-16 Subdivision bracket (16th overall), showcasing individual highlights amidst a challenging schedule.
Lourdes opened against Southern Oregon University on Friday, but fell 46-3. Stefana Jelacic (110 lbs) provided the Gray Wolves' lone victory, earning a narrow 4-3 decision. In the consolation round, Lourdes faced Baker University and suffered a 39-9 defeat. Jelacic recorded a pin in just 21 seconds, and Alysse Phillips (207 lbs) added a technical fall victory, 10-0.
On Saturday, Lourdes competed in the NAIA 13-16 bracket. The Gray Wolves began with a 26-9 semifinal loss to Missouri Baptist University. Jelacic secured a 24-second pin, and Phillips notched an 11-1 technical fall win. In the third-place match, Lourdes fell to the University of Saint Mary, 37-10. Jelacic and Phillips added forfeit victories to cap their strong individual performances.
