MELBOURNE, Fla. (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Lourdes University softball team opened its 2025 softball season at the Space Coast Spring Games on Monday morning, battling but ultimately falling 4-0 to Midland, and 5-4 to Waldorf at the Space Coast Complex.

Game One – Midland 4, Lourdes 0
The Gray Wolves (0-1) struggled to generate offense against a tough Midland pitching performance. Taylor Leggins recorded the team's lone hit with a second-inning double, but Lourdes was unable to bring a run across. Despite drawing three walks, the Gray Wolves couldn't capitalize with runners on base.

On the mound, Mallori Bradley (0-1) made the start for Lourdes, working five innings while striking out six. She settled in after the early frames, keeping Midland off the board over her final three innings. Kirsten Smith tossed a scoreless sixth in relief, allowing no hits and striking out one.

Game Two – Waldorf 5, Lourdes 4
Lourdes (0-2) struck first, scoring in the opening frame when Lindsey McGann's sacrifice bunt brought home Alyssa Goretzka. After Waldorf tied the game in the first, the Gray Wolves regained the lead in the fourth, plating two runs on a clutch two-run double from Skylar Mitchell to make it 3-1.

However, Waldorf answered in the fifth, capitalizing on Lourdes miscues to push across four runs and take a 5-3 advantage. Lourdes battled back in the sixth, with Taylor Leggins doubling and later scoring, but the Gray Wolves couldn't find the tying run in the final inning.

Leggins led the offense with two hits and two runs scored, while Mitchell and Maddie Darrah each recorded doubles. On the basepaths, De'Vona Holmes and Darrah each swiped a bag.

Berlynn Keller turned in a solid start in the circle, tossing four innings while allowing just one unearned run. Abby Sparks (0-1) took the loss in relief, surrendering four runs in two innings of work.
