ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Lourdes men's and women's bowling both earned spots in the WHAC Conference Championships after placing in the top-8 in the fourth league event of the season on Saturday.
The Gray Wolves men team squeaked ahead of the cut, finishing eighth out of 12 teams with a 186.03 team average, two points better than ninth-place Siena Heights.
The Gray Wolves women's team finished in fourth out of 12 teams with a 184.74 team average, just over eight points below first-place Indiana Tech.
Individually,
Brenden Staton led Lourdes' men's squad with a 636 final score, good enough for 25
th place individually in the open.
On the women's side, sophomore Cassandra Kieper tied a Lourdes women's program record with a 278 third game. Her 624 series placed her 7
th in the open. Also finishing in the top-10 was freshman
Veronica Flanagan, who once again had a phenomenal afternoon, bowling a 609 and coming in 10
th.
The women's team also broke a single game program record with a 1051 game three, shattering the previous record by 11 pins.

Both men's and women's bowling teams will compete in the Scotty Classic next Saturday, Jan. 31, an event hosted by Alma College.
