Leslie Beemer was named the first assistant softball coach in Gray Wolves’ program history in August of 2012.
On the diamond, Beemer has assisted a program that has posted a 54-100 mark in four seasons. She was instrumental in helping the 2016 squad earn a runner-up finish in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament while earning an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, the first in program history. Beemer has helped guide 12 All-WHAC selections in her first four seasons at Lourdes, four First Team picks.
Lourdes softball student-athletes have had 22 players named to the WHAC All-Academic Team during her stay, and the Gray Wolves were named a NAIA Scholar Team all four seasons. In addition, the team has produced three CoSIDA Academic All-American selections, one First Team and two Second Team picks. She has also had five student-athletes named CoSIDA Academic All-District I First Team.
Beemer also spent time as Lourdes first head women’s cross country coach, charged with starting the program for the 2013 season. She served in the head coaching role through 2014.
The Gray Wolves’ cross country program began with five races during their inaugural season, before competing seven times in 2014. The squad posted a pair of 10th place finishes at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships. Beemer produced a pair of WHAC All-Academic Team members in her first season at the helm and had three more in year two. Lourdes women’s cross country was also named a NAIA Scholar Team in 2013-2014 and produced two NAIA Scholar-Athletes that same season.
A three-time All Mid-American Conference selection in softball at the University of Toledo, including a First Team pick as a sophomore, Beemer left the program as the school’s career home run leader with 22 over her four years. She also led Toledo with 105 walks, a mark which also was tops in MAC history, as well as in career on-base percentage (.442). In addition, Beemer also finished her career second all-time at Toledo in slugging percentage (.506), fifth in batting average (.326) and runs scored (96), seventh in RBIs (75), and 10th in hits 176).
Beemer arrived at Lourdes after spending three seasons as the head junior varsity coach at Whitmer High School in Toledo, Ohio.
Beemer is a 2008 graduate of the University of Toledo with a bachelor’s degree in special education. A native of Lyons, Ohio, she played her prep softball at Evergreen High School where she earned All-Ohio honors as a junior.
