Nick Smith joined the Lourdes University women’s soccer staff in January of 2022 as an assistant coach for the Gray Wolves.

Smith had been a volunteer assistant with the Lourdes men’s program since 2019 and was a part of the Gray Wolf staff that set the school record for victories in 2020 and helped the team to a pair of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament berths.

He also serves as an associate head coach for Toledo Villa FC since 2019, a men’s semi-pro team that competes in USL League Two.

Smith has also been the director of coaching and a staff coach for Pacesetter Soccer Club in Toledo, Ohio since 2021.  He was a part of the staff that brough home the club’s first national championship.  Prior to Pacesetter, Smith also had club experience at Royal Oak FC in Royal Oak, Mich., where he spent more than a year as the director of college placement and as a head coach.

Prior to club coaching, Smith had collegiate experience, working as a men’s assistant at Chaminade University of Honolulu, a NCAA Division II program, for two seasons.  He also spent one season as a graduate assistant at the University of Bridgeport.

As a player, Smith earned First Team All-PacWest honors at Chaminade, where he played two seasons prior to transferring to Bridgeport, where he was a two-time team captain.  He also played in USL League Two for the Indiana Invaders.

Smith is a 2011 graduate of the University of Bridgeport with a degree in international political economy and diplomacy.  He earned a Juris Doctor degree in 2016 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2016.
