Lourdes Downs Indiana Tech to Complete Suspended Game

Box Score
Lourdes University needed just 42 minutes on Thursday afternoon to finish off Tuesday's suspended game against Indiana Tech, defeating the Warriors 4-1 at Christensen Field in Adrian, Mich. on the campus of Siena Heights University.

“I was happy to see us come out and play hard and maintain the lead,” head coach Jo Ann Gordon stated.  “This was a big win for us and puts us  in good position heading into our final conference games.”

Play resumed with Lourdes holding a 3-1 lead in the middle of the fourth inning and Kasey Graham (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) limited the Warriors to just three more hits the rest of the way.

The Gray Wolves added an insurance run in the top of the seventh as Taylor Derr (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer H.S.) led off the inning with a single, moved to second on a bunt from Chelsea Goebel (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.), and scored on Bre Megyesi's (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) single up the middle.

Prior to Tuesday's rain, Lourdes scored single runs in each of the first three innings.  Indiana Tech's lone run came in the bottom of the first.

Graham earned the win (5-12), scattering seven hits in the complete game effort.  She walked just one and struck out two.  Sam Berrios suffered the loss (4-13), allowing four runs, only two of which were earned, on eight hits.  She walked four and fanned two.

Eight different players accounted for Lourdes eight hits and every batter reached base in the contest for the Gray Wolves.

Lourdes (11-21, 6-8 WHAC) will close out the regular season on Friday afternoon, hosting Aquinas in a key WHAC doubleheader.  First pitch in game one of the twinbill is set for 4 p.m. at Pacesetter Park.
