Zach Steinmetz (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) tallied his fifth double-double of the season and Lourdes held Marygrove to under 30% shooting on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves defeated the Mustangs 76-52 at the Northwest Activities Center in Detroit, Mich.

Steinmetz finished the night with 23 points and 10 rebounds while
E.J. Blackwell (Rochester, Pa./Rochester H.S.) added 17 points.Â
Stephen Couvillion (Baton Rouge, La./Christian Life H.S.) gave the Gray Wolves three players with double figure scoring totals as he chipped in 10 points.

"This was a great team effort tonight," head coach
Andre Smith said after the victory. "We played well and got a lot of energy off of the bench.Â
Noah Guthrie came in and gave us some great minutes off of the bench with his energy."

Marygrove jumped out to a 14-8 lead six minutes into the contest before the Gray Wolves took control of the game with a 16-0 run over the next six minutes. Lourdes then ended the half with another quick 6-0 burst to build a 40-25 lead at the break.

The Gray Wolves scored the first 14 points of the second half, holding the Mustangs scoreless for nearly seven minutes while opening up a 29-point advantage. Marygrove went on a late 11-3 run to cut Lourdes lead under 20, but the Gray Wolves stayed in control throughout the final 20 minutes.

"We really set the tone with our first half defense," Smith added. "Then on our two big runs we really attacked the basket and got some easy looks."

Lourdes shot 51.7% from the floor for the game while holding Marygrove to just a 29.6% clip for the night. The Gray Wolves held a 44-27 rebounding edge and outscored the Mustangs 52-14 in the paint for the night.

Darryll Dixon led Marygrove (0-6, 0-4 WHAC) with 19 points while Diante Taylor added 15 points for the Mustangs.

Lourdes (6-2, 3-1) will have eight days off before returning to the court on Dec. 3 as the Gray Wolves host Aquinas. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. at Tam-o-Shanter.
