Lourdes fell behind by double figures less than seven minutes into the game and was never able to recover on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves dropped an 86-63 decision to 11
th-ranked Siena Heights at Tam-o-Shanter.

A trio of freshmen paced the Gray Wolves offensively off of the bench as
Niki Meyer (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center H.S.),
Sara Pribonic (Johnstown, Ohio/Northridge H.S.), and
Erica Davis (Cleveland, Ohio/Holy Name H.S.) led the way with 10 points each in the loss.

Siena Heights made six of its first seven shots from the floor while racing out to a 19-6 lead at the 13:20 mark of the opening half. Lourdes slowed the Saints offensively from the field over the next 10 minutes as the visitors made just four of their next 16 shots from the floor, but converted on 9-of-10 from the free throw line to extend the lead to 19, 34-15.

The Gray Wolves answered with a 10-2 run, capped by a three-pointer from Meyer, to cut the deficit to 36-25 with just over two minutes remaining in the opening stanza. Siena Heights eventually took a 12-point lead, 40-28, into the break.

Another freshman,
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.), scored the first basket of the second half to pull Lourdes to within 10, but the Gray Wolves would not get any closer the rest of the way. The Saints used a 12-4 run to push the lead to 20 with just under 10 minutes remaining and added another 13-5 spurt late to put the game away.

Lourdes shot just 35.3% from the floor on the afternoon, but hung around by going to the free throw line 38 times, making 25 on the day. The Gray Wolves also committed just nine turnovers. Fidler led the Gray Wolves on the glass, pulling down eight rebounds, but Lourdes was outboarded 38-26 for the game.

Morgan Warfield led Siena Heights (13-4, 8-2 WHAC) with 20 points while Sierra Calhoun added 15 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Mackenzie Tomasik and Jessie Arnold each scored 12 points to give the Saints four players in double figures. Siena Heights shot 51% from the floor for the game, including 63.6% in the second half, while making 26-of-29 (89.7%) of its free throw attempts.

Lourdes (6-12, 2-8 WHAC) will close out the first half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to take on Davenport. Tip-off against the second-ranked Panthers is set for 5:30 p.m. at the DU Student Center.
