Lourdes scored twice in the second half and
Erika Brinkman (Kalida, Ohio/Kalida H.S.) made 10 saves on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves scored a 2-0 victory over Indiana Tech at Wildcat Stadium.
Brinkman's clean sheet was her fifth of the season, helping the Gray Wolves tally three key points in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings.
"The girls made the most of their opportunities today, which was huge for us," head coach
Jackie Donovan said after the win. "Overall I was pleased with the effort on the day."
Indiana Tech (5-7-1, 1-3-1 WHAC) outshot Lourdes 9-6 in the opening 45 minutes, including an 8-2 edge on goal, but the match remained scoreless.
Jada Foster (Lenox Township, Mich./Anchor Bay H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard at the 52:37 mark, scoring her team-leading sixth goal of the season while
Helena Rammal (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central H.S.) collected her first collegiate point with an assist.
Jessica Grindle (Northwood, Ohio/Northwood H.S.) added an insurance goal for Lourdes with just 2:34 remaining the match, her first of the season, with
Remy Houttekier (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover H.S.) added the assist.
The Warriors finished the match outshooting Lourdes 17-11, including 10-5 on goal. Alena Payne made three saves between the posts for Indiana Tech.
Lourdes (5-5-1, 2-2) will begin a three-match road trip on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Lima, Ohio to face Northwestern Ohio. Kickoff is set 3 p.m. at Racers Stadium.
