Julian Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Horizon H.S.) tallied his first double-double as a Gray Wolf while
Zach Steinmetz (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) registered his 10
th double-double of the season as Lourdes went on the road and defeated Siena Heights 64-49 at the SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian, Mich.
Johnson tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Gray Wolves while Steinmetz tallied 15 points and 13 boards.
E.J. Blackwell (Rochester, Pa./Rochester H.S.) led Lourdes in scoring with 20 points on the night, including a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.
Lourdes scored the first seven points of the game and led by nine, 16-7, with 12:18 left in the first half. The Saints answered with a 14-6 run to pull within one with 6:33 to play before halftime. Lourdes closed the stanza with the final spurt, building a 30-23 lead at the break.
The Gray Wolves extended the lead to double figures after scoring six of the first eight points of the second half. After Siena Heights pulled back to within six, Lourdes rebuilt its double figure lead following a Blackwell three-pointer at the 11:45 mark. The Gray Wolves never led by less than nine the rest of the way on the way to assuring the program their fourth consecutive winning season.
Lourdes shot 40.9% from the floor on the night and committed 20 turnovers, while Siena Heights connected at a 32.7% clip but made just 13 miscues. The Gray Wolves went 24-for-30 from the free throw line while the Saints made just 7-of-8 from the stripe.
Stone Beckwith led Siena Heights (10-18, 6-14 WHAC) with 12 points off of the bench.
Lourdes (16-12, 12-8) will head back to Tam-o-Shanter on Wednesday evening to close out the home portion of the regular season. Tip-off against Davenport is set for 8 p.m. with Senior Night activities commencing just prior to tip-off.
