th-ranked Gray Wolves notched their fifth consecutive sweep, defeating Cincinnati Christian 25-17, 25-20, 25-13 at Tam-o-Shanter.

With the victory, the Gray Wolves won their fifth consecutive match while closing the first half of Great Lakes Conference play with a perfect 7-0 record.

"I thought we hit efficiently early and did a good job of siding out most of the match," head coach
Greg Reitz stated after the win. "We had some unforced errors in set two but did a good job of turning it around in the third. We had some hitters struggle early but were able to pull themselves out as the match went along. We passed pretty well throughout without allowing a reception error on the night."

The two schools traded sideouts for the first 13 points of the match until Lourdes took advantage of three straight Eagle errors while building a 12-7 lead. The Gray Wolves maintained their three to four point advantage until a late 6-2 run allowed the hosts to pull away and win the opening set. Lourdes hit .458 in the stanza.

Lourdes held a 12-8 lead in the second set before Cincinnati Christian rallied to score eight of the next 11 points to take the lead. With the Eagles in front 17-16, the Gray Wolves responded with a 7-1 run to earn a set point. The visitors fought off a pair of set points before
Frank Craig's (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood H.S.) kill put Lourdes on top 2-0 in the match.

In the third set Lourdes hit .444 while allowing just one point on Cincinnati Christian's serve. A 7-2 run capped with a service ace from
Amaury Miranda (Naranjito, P.R./Luis Munoz Marin H.S.) allowed the Gray Wolves to open up a 20-10 lead and cruise to the sweep.

The Gray Wolves hit .354 for the match, led by
Jo'Lon Clark's (Compton, Calif./Long Beach Poly H.S.) 10 kills and .500 hitting percentage. Craig added nine kills and six blocks while
Julian Rivera (Bayamon, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) added eight kills.

Benjamin Leatherman led Cincinnati Christian (5-6, 3-3 GLC) with eight kills on nine swings for a .889 hitting percentage. Lance Wiles added four blocks.

Lourdes (8-4, 7-0) will continue its five-match homestand on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Culver-Stockton in non-conference action. First serve is set for noon at Tam-o-Shanter.
