Paul Sieben stated after the game. "We got a great team effort both offensively and defensively. We battled back after getting behind early and found a lot of bright spots throughout."

Lawrence Tech jumped in front early, scoring three times in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Long put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard with her first collegiate goal, a short-handed tally, at the 19:31 mark. The Blue Devils responded with another three markers to build a 6-1 advantage midway through the opening half.

Long found the back of the cage against at the 13:48 mark, only to have Lawrence Tech respond four minutes later.Â
Mackenzie Moriarty (Roseville, Minn./Roseville H.S.) scored back-to-back goals just 1:08 a part to start Lourdes rally late in the stanza, the first two goals in the freshman's collegiate career.Â
Jessie Frost (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.) cut the deficit to two, 7-5, with just under three minutes to play and
Faith Fisher (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) pulled the Gray Wolves to within a goal at the 1:38 mark.

After Lawrence Tech scored with just under a minute to play before halftime, Long scored her third of the half with 15.9 seconds remaining to make it an 8-7 Blue Devil lead heading into the break.

The Blue Devils struck first in the second half before Long found the back of the net one minute later. Lawrence Tech pushed the lead to three, 11-8, less than six minutes into the stanza before the Gray Wolves fought back. Fisher and Long scored back-to-back tallies just over two minutes apart to pull Lourdes within one once again.

Lawrence Tech scored with the man advantage at the 12:27 mark and added another marker 52 seconds later to rebuild a three-goal advantage. Long added yet another tally with under 10 minutes to play, only to be answered by the Blue Devils two minutes later. Lourdes cut its deficit to one, 14-12, with 6:19 remaining on

Hannah Cullis (Fort Worth, Texas/Central H.S.) pulled the Gray Wolves within one, scoring on a free position shot with 12.8 seconds remaining, but Lourdes was unable to find the equalizer in the final seconds.

Ashley Collins scored eight goals for Lawrence Tech (2-0, 1-0 WHAC) in the win. Long added an assist to her six goals for a seven-point game for the Gray Wolves.

Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made eight saves in goal for the Gray Wolves in relief, playing the final 44:34.

Lourdes (0-1, 0-1) is scheduled to remain on the road Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves head to Wilmore, Ky. to face Asbury. The opening draw is slated for 2 p.m.
