The victories were the first two of the season for Lourdes, and marked the first extra-inning wins for the Gray Wolves since March 5, 2013 against Bethel (Ind.).

"It was a great day for Lourdes baseball," head coach
Andy Ham said after the games. "I was proud of the fact that we played like a team. We battled all day and kept our composure. Lots of different guys stepped up when we needed it."

The Gray Wolves had to come from behind in the opener as Cleary took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning as Cougar starter Derrik Berriman limited the Gray Wolves to just two hits through six frames.

Zak Laubscher (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and moved to second when
Bill Laranga (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) was also plunked with two outs.Â
Nate Snow (Tucson, Ariz./Palo Verde H.S.) delivered the big hit, tying the game with a two-run double to the gap in left-center.

Nick Mazgay (Centerburg, Ohio/Centerburg H.S.) started the winning rally in the eighth with a leadoff single. After
Alex Samson (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville H.S.) sacrificed him to second,
Garrett Jex (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green H.S.) was intentionally walked. A fielder's choice left runners on first and second with two outs when
Marty Ramirez (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) walked to load the bases.Â
Andy Kefalos (Barberton H.S.), who finished the game 2-for-4, delivered a RBI single into center to win the game for the Gray Wolves.

Sean Koerber (Harper Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North H.S.) tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win (1-1), striking out two.Â
Zack Zsolcsak (Brownstown, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) started for Lourdes, allowing two runs on six hits while fanning three in 4.2 innings of work.

James Edwards suffered the loss (0-1) for Cleary in game one, allowing two runs on three hits in 1.2 innings of work out of the bullpen. Bradley Jones went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in for the Cougars in game one.

Lourdes jumped on top early in game two with an unearned tally in the first inning.Â
Nick Toth (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson H.S.) singled with one out and moved to second on a walk to Laubscher. With the two completing a double steal, the throw to third went into left field, allowing Toth to score.

Cleary tied the game in the third before the Gray Wolves took advantage of three Cougar errors in the fifth to retake the lead. Kefalos singled home Laubscher, who had reached on an error with one out in the inning.Â

The game stayed tied until the seventh when it was the Cougars that tied the contest in the final frame to force extra innings. In the eighth, Laranga walked with one out and Samson added a two-out single. Toth delivered the game-winning hit to the gap in right field, plating Laranga with the winning run.

Joey Hawkins (New Richmond, Ohio/New Richmond H.S.) earned his first collegiate victory (1-1) with one scoreless inning of relief for Lourdes while Tyler Moore suffered the loss, despite going the distance. Moore allowed just one earned run on nine hits while striking out five.

Brandon Holt (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) started and worked 5.2 innings for the Gray Wolves, surrendering just one run and four hits before taking a no decision.

Samson and Toth both had two hits in the nightcap for the Gray Wolves while Taylor Hunter went 2-for-3 for the Cougars.

Lourdes (2-5) and Cleary (4-7) will wrap up their four-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon with another doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. at Mercy Field.
