Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: The final week of the 2015 regular season commences for Lourdes University as the Gray Wolves play three make-up doubleheaders which will play a vital role in the team's postseason chances.  Lourdes wraps up the road portion of the schedule on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Cornerstone before entertaining Davenport and Aquinas on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her third season on the Lourdes bench, Jo Ann Gordon has a 31-65 (.323) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In her 13th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 183-353 (.341) career mark.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 0-5 all-time against Cornerstone dating back to March 4, 2013.  Last year the Golden Eagles swept a twinbill at Pacesetter Park 6-2 and 5-3.  Cornerstone is 2-0 against Lourdes in Grand Rapids, Mich.  Davenport is 4-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to April 7, 2013.  Last year the Panthers registered 8-0 and 12-6 victories over the Gray Wolves in Grand Rapids.  Lourdes is 0-2 against Davenport at Pacesetter Park.  Aquinas is 1-3 against Lourdes all-time dating back to April 26, 2013.  The Saints scored a 5-4 win in eight innings and a 5-3 win in Grand Rapids last year.  The series is tied 1-1 at Pacesetter Park.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes fell 11-1 in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader against Michigan-Dearborn.  The Gray Wolves rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh in game two to score a 9-8 walk-off victory.  Lourdes fell 11-5 and 10-2 against Concordia (Mich.) at home on Saturday in a doubleheader.  The Gray Wolves surrendered four runs in the opening inning of each game on Sunday at Madonna, dropping 7-1 and 7-3 decisions to the Crusaders.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles have dropped six of their last eight games after splitting a doubleheader at Siena Heights on Saturday afternoon.  Megan Oberst leads Cornerstone at the plate batting .418 with 10 doubles, but has missed the last eight games due to injury.  Hailey Castillo is hitting .346 as the Golden Eagles are batting .289 as a team.  Cornerstone's pitching staff has posted a 4.04 earned run average on the year while opponents are hitting .282 against them.

Scouting Davenport: The Panthers have won five of their last six games after sweeping a doubleheader at Siena Heights on Sunday afternoon.  KC Dunne leads Davenport batting .519 with 10 home runs and 48 runs batted in on the season.  As a team, the Panthers are hitting .349 as a team.  Emily Maves leads the pitching staff with a 2.38 earned run average.  As a staff, the Panthers have posted a 3.38 ERA and opponents are batting .239 against them.

Scouting Aquinas: The Saints enter the week having split a doubleheader against Davenport on Saturday afternoon.  Aquinas hosts Indiana Tech on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes on Saturday.  Jenn Woolard leads the Saints at the plate, batting .375 with five home runs while Ellie Adams is hitting at a .371 clip with five long balls and 35 runs batted in.  As a team Aquinas is batting .285.  The Saints pitching staff has posted a 4.88 earned run average and opponents are hitting .290 against them.

Schedule Updates: Lourdes will make up the Cornerstone postponement from March 28 in Grand Rapids, Mich. on April 21 at 3:30 p.m.  In addition, the Davenport postponement from March 29 (and April 3) has been rescheduled for Friday, April 24 at 2 p.m.  The Aquinas postponement from April 4 is set to be made up on Saturday, April 25 at noon.  Thus the Purdue-North Central game has been cancelled.

Thanks Seniors: Lourdes will honor its three seniors on Saturday in conjunction with the doubleheader against Aquinas.  Alyssa Schaub, Hannah Spangler, and Ashley Yeager will be concluding their Gray Wolf careers as the close of the 2015 campaign.

Batting for a Tournament Berth: Lourdes heads into the final week of the regular season controlling its own destiny to secure a berth in next week's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.  The Gray Wolves are currently tied with Cornerstone for seventh and eighth place and play the Golden Eagles and sixth place Aquinas during this final week.  Ninth place Siena Heights enters the week with one more win than Lourdes, and every team will finish the season having played 18 league games.  The top eight teams qualify for the postseason tournament.

Reaching the Century Mark: When Lourdes plays its fourth game this week (currently scheduled as game two of Friday's doubleheader against Davenport), the Gray Wolves will be involved in their 100th game in program history.  Lourdes enters the week 31-65 all-time since beginning the 2013 season.

Looking to Shatter the Batting Mark:  Alyssa Schaub is on pace to shatter the school's single season batting mark, which she set last season.  As a junior Schaub hit .360 for the Gray Wolves and this year she enters the final week of the regular season batting .468.  Schaub has 11 extra base hits, including three home runs, among her 29 hits this season and is slugging .758.  For her career Schaub enters the week batting .399 in a Gray wolf uniform.

Multi-Hit Efforts: Nine different players have recorded at least three multi-hit games for the Gray Wolves already this season through the first 20 contests.  Alyssa Schaub leads the way with 10 multi-hit games followed by eight from Megan Mosiniak.

Lots of Runs Early: Lourdes has scored 21 first inning runs in 20 games this year, but has also yielded 33 to the opposition.  The Gray Wolves have scored in the opening inning in 13 games this season.

Mixing and Matching: Lourdes lineup has changed nearly every game this season.  Only in the leadoff spot where Alyssa Schaub has started all 20 games has the same player batted in the same position in the order.  In the eighth spot, eight different players have occupied the position in 20 games.  Defensively, Kayla Encalado at second base and Bre Megyesi at shortstop are the only two players to start every game at the same position.

This and That: As a team Lourdes is batting .315 on the season, currently 54 points higher than the current school mark (.261) ... Lourdes is 5-0 this season when leading after four innings ... as a team the Gray Wolves are 45-of-50 stealing bases ... Lourdes has made two or more errors in 13 of 20 games and is fielding at just a .928 clip this season ... the Gray Wolves are 6-0 when scoring seven or more runs and 0-9 when scoring six or less ... Hayley Roberts holds the team lead with 17 runs batted in and is tied with Alyssa Schaub for the team lead in home runs with three.
