Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: The 2015 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament commences on Wednesday evening with Lourdes University serving as the event's seventh seed.  The Gray Wolves will battle second-seeded Davenport in the opening game before facing either Concordia (Mich.) or Aquinas in round two of the double elimination tournament.

Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her third season on the Lourdes bench, Jo Ann Gordon has a 34-68 (.333) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In her 13th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 186-356 (.343) career mark.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes:  Davenport is 6-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to April 7, 2013.  The Panthers swept a doubleheader against the Gray Wolves last Friday at Pacesetter Park 9-0 and 7-3.  This will be the two schools first meeting in the WHAC tournament.  Concordia (Mich.) holds a 5-2 all-time series advantage dating back to April 17, 2013.  The Cardinals swept a doubleheader from Lourdes 11-5 and 10-2 on April 18 of this year.  Concordia won the only prior meeting in the WHAC tournament, eliminating the Gray Wolves in 2014 with a 10-1 win.  Aquinas holds a 4-2 series edge against Lourdes dating back to April 26, 2013.  The Gray Wolves won the opener of Sunday's doubleheader 4-3 before the Saints won game two 4-1.  The two schools have never met in the WHAC tournament.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened the week sweeping a key WHAC doubleheader against Cornerstone 10-2 and 15-6 in games played at Davenport on Tuesday.  On Friday afternoon, the Gray Wolves fell 9-0 and 7-3 at home to 24th-ranked Davenport before concluding the season on Sunday with a Senior Day split with Aquinas, winning the opener 4-3 before falling to the Saints 4-1 in game two.

Scouting Davenport: The Panthers enter the tournament having won five of their last six games after splitting a doubleheader at home against fifth-ranked Saint Xavier on Sunday.  KC Dunne leads Davenport batting .497 with 10 home runs and 49 runs batted in for a team that is hitting .345.  In the circle, Emily Maves is 21-4 with a 1.78 earned run average and 166 strikeouts in 157.2 innings of work. The Panther staff sports a 2.51 ERA overall.

Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the tournament having won four straight games following a doubleheader sweep of Western Ontario on Monday night.  Samantha Capuzzi leads Concordia batting .382 on the season while Iesha Waters is hitting at a .371 clip.  As a team the Cardinals are batting .303.  Cheyenne Brierley sports a 2.54 ERA and has registered 67 strikeouts in 88.1 innings in the circles.  The Concordia staff sports a 3.20 ERA on the year.

Scouting Aquinas: The Saints enter the tournament having split four straight doubleheaders following Sunday's twinbill at Lourdes.  Jenn Woolard leads the Saints at the plate, batting .366 with five home runs while Ellie Adams is hitting at a .347 clip with five long balls and 37 runs batted in.  As a team Aquinas is batting .283.  The Saints pitching staff has posted a 3.40 earned run average, led by Caitlyn Hensel's 3.09 mark with 93 strikeouts in 88.1 innings of work.

Lourdes in the WHAC Tournament: The Gray Wolves are making their third appearance in the WHAC tournament and are still looking for their first victory.  Lourdes fell 9-3 to Madonna in game one in 2013 before dropping a 9-1 decision to Siena Heights in the tournament played in Battle Creek, Mich.  Last year at Pacesetter Park, the Gray Wolves suffered a 3-2 setback to Madonna before dropping a 10-1 elimination game to Concordia (Mich.).

Looking to Shatter the Batting Mark:  Alyssa Schaub is on pace to shatter the school's single season batting mark, which she set last season.  As a junior Schaub hit .360 for the Gray Wolves and this year she enters the final week of the regular season batting .450.  Schaub has 14 extra base hits, including three home runs, among her 36 hits this season and is slugging .725.  For her career Schaub enters the week batting .398 in a Gray wolf uniform.

Multi-Hit Efforts: Nine different players have recorded at least three multi-hit games for the Gray Wolves already this season through the first 26 contests.  Alyssa Schaub leads the way with 12 multi-hit games, including three three-hit contests, followed by 10 from Megan Mosiniak.  Hillary West has the team's lone four-hit game of the year.

Driving in Runs: Nine different players also have at least one multi-RBI game this season, paced by Hayley Roberts' seven on the year.  Megan Mosiniak has driven in more than one run in six different games, including three with three RBI.  Roberts and Hillary West each have a four-RBI game this season.

Lots of Runs Early: Lourdes has scored 29 first inning runs in 26 games this year, but has also yielded 37 to the opposition.  The Gray Wolves have scored in the opening inning in 18 games this season.

Putting the Bat on the Ball: Lourdes has six players batting over .300 on the season, including five of which have at least 50 at bats on the year.  In addition, three more players are hitting over .290 for the Gray Wolves.

Mixing and Matching: Lourdes lineup has changed nearly every game this season.  Only in the leadoff spot where Alyssa Schaub has started all 26 games has the same player batted in the same position in the order.  In the eighth spot, eight different players have occupied the position.  Defensively, not one player has started every game at the same position.  Kayla Encalado at second base and Bre Megyesi at shortstop have each started 23 games at their respective positions.

This and That: As a team Lourdes is batting .309 on the season, currently 48 points higher than the current school mark (.261, 2013) ... Lourdes is 7-1 this season when holding opponents to five runs or less ... as a team the Gray Wolves are 52-of-58 stealing bases ... the Gray Wolves are 8-0 when scoring seven or more runs and 1-17 when scoring six or less ... Hayley Roberts holds the team lead with 22 runs batted in and is tied with Alyssa Schaub for the team lead in home runs with three ... Schaub enters the tournament having reached base safely in seven straight games.
