In a twinbill that was moved from Rochester, Mich. to Mercy Field, Rochester earned a pair of non-league victories over Lourdes on Wednesday afternoon by the scores of 4-2 and 1-0.
 
Rochester pitching limited Lourdes to just nine hits over the two games, and kept the Gray Wolves off of the scoreboard for 13 of the 14 innings on the afternoon.
 
In the opener the Warriors took the lead from the opening inning with a two-out RBI single.  Rochester added single runs in the second and fourth innings as well, each with two outs, to build a 3-0 advantage.
 
Lourdes closed the gap to one in the fifth as Tim Ward (Mount Orab, Ohio/Western Brown H.S.) singled with one out.  Zak Laubscher (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) delivered the Gray Wolves' first run with a two-out triple and scored one batter later on a single by Alex Samson (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville H.S.).
 
Rochester would add an unearned insurance run in the top of the sixth inning, and despite putting two runners aboard in the seventh, the Gray Wolves were unable to tie the game late.
 
Justin Green earned the win (2-2) for the Warriors, allowing just the two runs on six hits in six innings while Jacob Purman tossed a scoreless seventh for his first save of the season.  Zach Zsolcsak (Brownstown, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) suffered the loss (1-2), surrendering three runs on eight hits in four innings on the hill.
 
Samson and Laubscher each accounted for two of Lourdes seven hits in the opener.
 
Game two was a pitcher's duel throughout.  Lourdes managed a two-out single by Andy Kefalos (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.) in the opening inning, and would not register another hit until a two-out single by Kyle Sherman (Collierville, Tenn./Rossville Christian Academy) in the seventh.
 
Sean Reinig kept the Gray Wolves off the scoreboard throughout, tossing a complete game shutout, striking out seven while walking just three to earn the win (2-0).
 
Rochester (12-10) scored the game's lone run in the sixth inning, tallying three straight singles after two were out against Nate Snow (Tucson, Ariz./Palo Verde H.S.), who suffered the loss (0-3).
 
Lourdes (8-21) will return to the diamond on Saturday and Sunday for a key four-game Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference series against Concordia (Mich.).  First pitch in game one of Saturday's twinbill is set for 1 p.m. at Cardinal Field in Ann Arbor, Mich.
