Lourdes closed out the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference portion of its 2015 season on Wednesday evening, dropping a 15-5 decision to 10
th-ranked Aquinas at the Aquinas Athletic Field in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Â
The Gray Wolves led 2-1 at the 15:48 mark of the first half following goals from
Faith Fisher (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) and
Alyssa Long (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.).
Â
Aquinas responded with four straight goals to take the lead for good, but
Katie Cerveny (Erie, Mich./Mason Senior H.S.) added a goal before halftime as Lourdes was within three, 6-3, at the break.
Â

Â
"We were able to play competitive in the first half," head coach
Paul Sieben said afterwards. "However, Aquinas had a strong, balanced attack and midfield which was too much for us to contain in the second half."

Â
The Saints also had a 31-20 edge in ground balls in the contest, with Fisher and

Haley Brown (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) won three draw controls for the Gray Wolves.
Â
Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made seven saves for Lourdes in goal.
Â
Lourdes (3-10, 0-10) will close out its 2015 season on Sunday afternoon as the Gray Wolves take on Franciscan. The opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at Memorial Field in Steubenville, Ohio.
