Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: Lourdes continues its eight-game road trip this weekend, returning to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play for a pair of doubleheaders. The Gray Wolves will travel to Northwestern Ohio on Saturday afternoon before heading to the Hoosier State on Sunday for a twinbill at Indiana Tech.
Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her third season on the Lourdes bench,
Jo Ann Gordon has a 28-58 (.326) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her 13th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 180-346 (.342) career mark. She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 2-2 all-time against Northwestern Ohio after splitting a pair of doubleheaders during the 2014 season. The Gray Wolves posted 2-1 and 3-2 (9 innings) victories at Pacesetter Park in WHAC play while the Racers tallied 4-3 and 10-7 wins in non-conference action down in Lima, Ohio. Lourdes is 4-0 all-time against Indiana Tech, including a sweep of last year's twinbill 8-0 and 15-0 at Pacesetter Park. The Gray Wolves won the first two meetings between the two schools in Fort Wayne, Ind. 7-1 and 4-1 in 2013.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes opened WHAC play last Wednesday splitting a doubleheader with Siena Heights. The Gray Wolves dropped the opener to the Saints 8-6 before rebounding for a 10-2 victory in game two. Lourdes was scheduled to host Davenport and Aquinas last weekend, but both games were postponed due to rain. The Gray Wolves returned to action on Monday, dropping a non-conference twinbill at Adrian 7-5 and 6-5. Lourdes suffered a pair of setbacks on Tuesday as well at Hillsdale, falling 13-5 and 14-6.
Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have won 11 of their last 13 games overall following a doubleheader sweep of Ohio Christian on Tuesday afternoon. Shelby Lucas leads UNOH batting .452 with 13 runs batted in while Kayley Keller is hitting .536 with three home runs and 13 RBI in just 11 games. The Racers are hitting .363 as a team. In the circle, Erica Gulik leads the staff with a 3.36 earned run average. Opponents are hitting .312 against Racer hurlers while the staff sports a 5.25 ERA.
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have dropped six straight games after being swept in a twinbill at Davenport on Wednesday. Indiana Tech hosts Siena Heights Saturday before Lourdes visits. Hannah Foltz leads the Warriors batting .366 with four home runs and 22 runs batted in. As a team Indiana Tech is hitting .243 this season. Jamie Kilps is the team's top pitcher with a 3.62 ERA. The staff sports a 5.03 ERA and opponents are hitting .304 against them.
Schedule Changes: Lourdes will make up the Cornerstone postponement from March 28 in Grand Rapids, Mich. on April 21 at 3:30 p.m. In addition, the Davenport postponement from March 29 (and April 3) has been rescheduled for Friday, April 24 at 2 p.m. The Aquinas postponement from April 4 is set to be made up on Saturday, April 25 at a time to be determined.
Offense Starts Quick: Lourdes has scored at least one first inning run in nine of its 10 games this season. The lone exception for the Gray Wolves came in the second game of the doubleheader at Cleary, when Lourdes scored a run in the second inning instead. Â
Quite the Start for Schaub: Alyssa Schaub has started the season with at least one hit in all 10 games this season. The senior outfielder has tallied seven multi-hit contests and leads the team with a .581 batting average (18-for-31). Schaub has tallied four doubles, a triple, and three home runs for a 1.065 slugging percentage as well. In addition, Schaub is a perfect 10-for-10 stealing bases.
Getting Runners on Early: Lourdes has reached base at a .571 clip as a team leading off innings this season.Â

Kayla Encalado has reached base in eight of 13 (.615) opportunities. Â
Swinging the Bats: Lourdes is batting .381 as a team through the first four games of the year.Â

Ashley Yeager are each hitting at a .500 clip. Encalado, Schaub, Yeager, and
Megan Mosiniak each have hits in all four games this season.

Gallaher Tough on Lefties: Brooke Gallaher has had a solid showing in the circle early in the year against left-handed hitters. The Gray Wolf rookie has limited lefties to just a .190 batting average (4-for-21) in her first five appearances in the circle.
Swiping Bases: As a team, Lourdes has been successful in 29-of-30 stolen base opportunities this season. The lone caught stealing,
Bre Megyesi, occurred following a walk when she was thrown out trying to take second on the same play.
