Photo GalleryLourdes continued its best start in program history, and matched the school record for longest win streak on Saturday afternoon with a 25-18, 25-11, 25-16 win over Spring Arbor in the Gray Wolves' home opener at Tam-o-Shanter.
Â
"This was a good start to our home season," head coach
Greg Reitz stated. "The match was a good barometer for us as Spring Arbor has already played a lot of WHAC schools. I don't think we played that well but we did what we needed to do to score points."
Â
The win, Lourdes sixth in a row to start the season, matches the six-straight victories from Nov. 2-16, 2013 as longest in program history.
Â

Lexie Curtis (Toledo, Ohio/Bedford H.S.) served up an ace on the opening point, one of 13 aces for the Gray Wolves on the afternoon. The Gray Wolves built a 5-1 lead and never trailed in the opening set. After the Cougars had closed to within one, 10-9, Curtis served up an 8-0 run, including two aces, as the Gray Wolves coasted to the win.
Â

Michi Jimenez (Vega Baja, P.R./Juan Quirindongo Morell H.S.) combined to serve up a 10-2 spurt.Â
Stephanie Ruffing (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty H.S.) closed the set with a pair of aces before a Spring Arbor error to give Lourdes a 2-0 lead in the match.
Â
