Twelve of the 13 players that dressed on Wednesday evening scored for Lourdes as the Gray Wolves cruised to an 88-49 victory over Marygrove at Tam-o-Shanter.
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) tallied a double-double with 19 points and 16 rebounds while
Constance Conner (Cleveland, Ohio/Brush H.S.) also added a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards off of the bench.
Lindsey Motycka (Convoy, Ohio/Crestview H.S.) scored 14 points as part of the Gray Wolves' balanced attack.
"This was a much needed with for us," head coach
Karen McConnell said afterwards. "I thought we got a lot of contributions throughout the lineup. Fid had another big rebounding game."
Lourdes jumped on top early, scoring 10 straight points in the opening quarter to build a 16-5 lead less than five minutes into the contest. Marygrove made just one of its first 13 shots from the floor before tallying a triple as time expired in the period to close to within 10, 22-12, after 10 minutes.
The Gray Wolves slowly extended their lead to as many as 20 in the second half before taking a 42-24 advantage into the locker room. Lourdes shot 45% from the floor over the first 20 minutes while holding the Mustangs to just a 21.4% clip from the field.
The lead reached 30 by the end of the third quarter, 60-30, as Lourdes limited Marygrove to just 2-of-15 shooting in the period. The Gray Wolves posted 28 points in the final stanza on their way to their highest scoring output of the season.
Lourdes outscored Marygrove 56-10 in the paint, outrebounded the Mustangs 63-40, and held a 24-4 advantage in second chance points. The Gray Wolves also committed just eight turnovers on the night.
Teonna Pope led Marygrove (4-14, 1-10 WHAC) with 16 points while Elisha Major added 15 points. Breanna Thomas posted a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 19 rebounds.
Lourdes (5-13, 2-9) will look to carry the momentum into the second half of the league schedule, which begins on Saturday. The Gray Wolves will host Aquinas at Tam-o-Shanter, with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.
