A three-point attempt at the buzzer by Lourdes missed its mark on Saturday night as the Gray Wolves suffered a 66-64 setback on the road against Siena Heights at the SHU Fieldhouse.
Â
Zach Steinmetz (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) poured in a game-high 27 points, the most by a Gray Wolf this season, making 11-of-16 shots from the floor, including all four of his three-point attempts. He also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Lourdes trailed 29-26 at the break and saw the Saints push the lead to 12, 46-34, just eight minutes into the second half. The Gray Wolves still trailed by nine, 52-43, with 6:37 to play before Steinmetz scored eight straight points, including two triples, in less than a minute to pull Lourdes to within one.
Â
A 7-1 run by Siena Heights pushed the hosts lead back to seven, and the Saints still had a five-point advantage with 31 seconds to play. Steinmetz hit back-to-back three-pointers sandwiched around a pair of free throws by Tony Jackson, allowing Lourdes to pull within one, 65-64, with 11 seconds to play. George Goodman split a pair of free throws with nine seconds left, allowing the Gray Wolves a chance to win or tie, but
Darrionate Stewart's (Cleveland, Ohio/Rhodes H.S.) triple try from the top of the circle hit the back iron.
Â
Siena Heights jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first half, and led by as many as nine before the Gray Wolves scored the final six points over two minutes in the first half to pull within three.
