Tenth-ranked Lourdes University captured its second consecutive Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season title on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves swept Davenport 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 at the DU Student Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Gray Wolves finished the regular season 15-1 in league play, and share the league, and West Division, with Cornerstone, as the two schools split their meetings.

"It's a huge accomplishment for us to go back-to-back," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "We had a really good regular season and now we need to focus on postseason play."

Meghan Birr (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores H.S.) led the Lourdes offense, which hit .306 on the night, handing out 42 assists in the three sets. The senior setter also tallied 14 digs for her seventh double-double on the year, and fifth in her last six matches.

Molly Shonk (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley H.S.) recorded her sixth straight double-double, and team-leading 15
th of the year, registering a team-high 14 kills while adding 10 digs.Â
Ave Stout (Huntertown, Ind./Bishop Luers H.S.) added 12 kills and hit .364 while
Stephanie Ruffing (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty H.S.) chipped in 10 kills while hitting .391.

Defensively,
Angelica Dippold (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) had 18 digs while
Carolyn Manley (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) added 10 digs.

"We served aggressively and fought off their serve well tonight," Reitz added. "Angelica had a great match defensively."

The Gray Wolves saved their best offense for the final set, recording 19 kills while hitting a blistering .421 in the third set.

Jessica Marvis led Davenport (14-15, 8-8 WHAC) with 14 kills and hit .462 while Sami White handed out 35 assists and had 11 digs.

Lourdes (24-5, 15-1) will return to the court next week in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament. Official pairings, with dates, times, and locations, will be announced by the league office within the next 24 hours.
