Lourdes started strong in the opening quarter, but Madonna turned the tide the rest of the way and defeated the Gray Wolves 85-59 on Saturday afternoon at The Activities Center in Livonia, Mich.

Mariah DuPree (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Whiteford H.S.) made three three-pointers in the game's first minutes as the Gray Wolves took a quick 15-6 lead lead. Lourdes maintained a seven-point lead, 20-13, after the opening period, but the Crusaders went on a 16-3 run over the first four minutes of the second quarter to take the lead for good.

Madonna scored seven of the final nine points before halftime, building a 41-32 advantage. The Crusaders scored 31 points in the third period, increasing the lead to 25, 72-47, before both schools played the fourth quarter fairly evenly.

Lourdes shot just 35.5% from the floor on the afternoon, with DuPree leading the way with 15 points.Â
Jesse Fidler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds while
Lindsey Motycka (Convoy, Ohio/Crestview H.S.) chipped in eight points.

Becca Sabol led Madonna (15-9, 15-5 WHAC) with 21 points as the Crusaders outscored the Gray Wolves 42-22 in the paint. Justice Dean added 12 points while Lindsey Hernden contributed 10 points for the hosts. Madonna forced 22 Lourdes turnovers which led to 26 points.

Lourdes (7-20, 4-16) will close out the road portion of the season on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves head to Northwestern Ohio. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at Racer Gymnasium in Lima, Ohio.
