Lourdes remained perfect in Mideast Conference play on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves defeated Siena Heights 25-16, 22-25, 25-12, 25-10 at Tam-o-Shanter for the team's seventh consecutive victory.

In the process, the eighth-ranked Gray Wolves snapped Siena Heights' six-match winning streak.

In the opening set Lourdes tallied 20 kills and hit .343 while limiting the Saints to just six kills. The Gray Wolves never scored more than four consecutive points in the stanza, but also held Siena Heights to just four points on their own serve.

In the second set the Saints held Lourdes to .058 hitting, as the Gray Wolves made nine miscues. Lourdes led 21-19 only to allow the guests to score six of the final seven points to even the match, and snap the Gray Wolves' set win streak at 15 dating back to Jan. 23.

"We learned we have to play well all of the time," head coach
Greg Reitz said after the match. "Teams are going to scrap and extend the play against us. "We cleaned up our attack after set two when we weren't connecting offensively and finished the match strong."

Lourdes cruised in the final two sets, hitting .423 and .474 in the third and fourth respectively. A 10-4 run in the third set allowed the Gray Wolves to build an 18-9 advantage, and Lourdes used a 16-4 spurt in the fourth set to secure the victory.

Garrett Jones (Las Vegas, Nev./Las Vegas H.S.) led Lourdes offensively with 16 kills and hit .481 while
Ryan Maune (Washington, Mo./Saint Francis Borgia H.S.) added 12 kills. Maune also was involved in nine of the team's 13 blocks.Â
Brendan Brown (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny H.S.) added 11 kills on 18 swings while hitting .556.

"We got great numbers from our middles Brendan and Ryan tonight," Reitz added. "Garrett had a solid match tonight as well."

Ryan Ferkel (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly H.S.) handed out 51 assists and added 11 digs while
Zachary Hawkins (Dickinson, Texas/Dickinson H.S.) added 10 kills and five blocks.

Defensively,
CJ Rilveria (Kula, Hawaii/Kekaulike H.S.) recorded 22 digs while
Eric Ubior (Guaynabo, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) added 12 digs.

Lourdes hit .265 for the match while holding the Saints to a .056 clip. The Gray Wolves outdug Siena Heights 71-45 and held a 13-9 blocking advantage.

Tyler Hubbard-Neil led Siena Heights (7-4, 2-1 MEC) with 13 kills while John Kalugar had 14 digs.

Lourdes (9-1, 4-0) will host Cardinal Stritch on Friday evening. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in a match that will be played at Springfield High School.
