Eighth-ranked Lourdes posted a pair of victories on Saturday at the Viking Invitational held at the Burns Athletic Complex in Marshall, Mo., defeating Ottawa in four sets before sweeping Lindenwood-Belleville.

The Gray Wolves recorded a 21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 victory over Ottawa before downing the Lynx by a score of 25-19, 25-21, 25-16.

"In the morning against Ottawa we didn't start the match well, but were able to figure some things out and finished the match pretty well," head coach
Greg Reitz stated. "We got some solid play from our attackers and were able to take advantage of some matchups."

The Gray Wolves hit .315 against the Braves, including a blistering .615 mark in the third when Lourdes tallied 17 kills with just one error. The Gray Wolves finished the match with 18 more kills in the fourth.

Julian Rivera (Bayamon, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) led Lourdes with 16 kills in the match and hit .464 while
Zachary Hawkins (Dickinson, Texas/Dickinson H.S.) added 15 more kills.Â
Garrett Jones (Las Vegas, Nev./Las Vegas H.S.) also finished in double figures with 10 kills.Â
Ryan Ferkel (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly H.S.) handed out 28 assists while
Bryan Downs (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon H.S.) added 26 more.

Defensively,
CJ Rilveria (Kula, Hawaii/Kekaulike H.S.) recorded a match-high 16 digs while
Eric Ubior (Guaynabo, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) added 15 digs.Â
Ryan Maune (Washington, Mo./Saint Francis Borgia H.S.) had a team-high five blocks to go along with nine kills and a .467 hitting percentage.

Daniel Jacobs led Ottawa (3-14) with 35 kills, taking 72 of the team's 131 swings. Dylan Riley had 11 digs for the Braves.

In the afternoon against the Lynx, Lourdes hit .265 as a team, tallied six service aces, and took advantage of 10 Lindenwood-Belleville service errors.

"We changed some things in the lineup and were able to play well with the changes," Reitz said of the second contest. "We moved the ball around pretty well and hit and blocked for some big points."

Rivera led the Gray Wolves with 12 kills while Downs handed out 17 assists and Ferkel added 15 more. Jones had four service aces for Lourdes.

Defensively, Rilveria tallied 15 digs while Maune was involved in five more blocks.

Taylor Tattersall led Lindenwood-Belleville (4-13) with nine kills and Jacob Sobkoviak added nine digs.

Lourdes (13-2) will face top-ranked, and undefeated Missouri Baptist (19-0) on Monday afternoon. First serve is set for 2 p.m. EST at the Petty Sports and Recreation Complex in Saint Louis, Mo.
