Photo Gallery

Lourdes scored four times in 100 seconds late in the fourth quarter to break open a close contest and defeated Oakland 12-6 on Wednesday evening at Wildcat Stadium.

Leading just 7-5 with under six minutes to play, Tanner Jaramillo (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) and Dalton Vowles (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) each scored twice to give the Gray Wolves a six-goal advantage with 3:34 to play.  Vowles added one more goal with 1:01 to play, his fourth of the game, to go along with five assists for a nine-point contest.

"It was a great team win," head coach Patrick Yannarelli said.  "We kept our composure and battled the entire game."

Trailing 2-1 early, Lourdes, ranked fourth in the latest NAIA poll, scored four straight goals spanning the first and second quarters to take the lead for good.  The Golden Grizzlies and Gray Wolves would trade tallies until the fourth quarter when the hosts went on the final run to secure the victory.

Danny Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio/North H.S.), Dylan Gill (Holland, Ohio/Saint Francis H.S.), and Casey Hilfinger (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) all had two goals in addition to Jaramillo and Lourdes outshot Oakland 36-31 for the night.

Conner Mishler (Lambertville, Mich./Saint John's H.S.) made 15saves in the win for the Gray Wolves while Jay Fisher (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) tallied a team-high five ground balls.

Hunter Spielman and Victor Fawaz each scored twice to lead Oakland (1-6) while Marek Nagy made 15 saves in the cage for the Golden Grizzlies.

Lourdes (5-1) heads to Minnesota on Saturday to face Winona State.  The opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m. EDT at Maxwell Field in Winona, Minn.
