Photo GalleryIn a battle of two of the top five teams in NAIA men's lacrosse, fifth-ranked Lourdes pulled out a 14-13 over third-ranked Indiana Tech on Wednesday evening at Wildcat Stadium.

The Gray Wolves battled back from a 4-1 deficit early in the second quarter, scoring five times in six man-up situations over the final 40 minutes to earn the win.

"This was a great team with in the defense stepping up big at the end today," head coach
Patrick Yannarelli said. "The offense held their own and really stepped up big in the extra man opportunities. The leadership on offense really showed today. We're really looking forward to moving into the second half of the season."

Lourdes took its first lead, 7-6, with 1:40 to play on a
Casey Hilfinger (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) goal, but the Warriors would even things up with a tally of their own with just five seconds remaining before halftime.

Indiana Tech forged in front 10-9 with 7:17 to play in the third before four straight goals by the Gray Wolves put the hosts in front for good.Â
Dylan Gill (Holland, Ohio/Saint Francis H.S.) tied the game with 3:41 to play in the third and Hilfinger tallied his second of the game less than 90 seconds later to give Lourdes an 11-10 lead heading into the final period.

Jared Yoshino (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) scored twice to open the fourth, increasing the lead to three before Indiana Tech was able to close to within one, 13-12, with 6:01 to play.Â
Danny Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio/North H.S.) made it a two-goal advantage with 2:35 left to play, only to see the Warriors respond one last time just 14 seconds later.

Indiana Tech (2-2, 1-1 WHAC) had the final position as time wound down, but
Jaafar Ismail (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills H.S.) was able to force a turnover behind the cage as the clock expired to secure the win.

Yoshino finished with a team-high four goals and added three assists while
Dalton Vowles (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) added three goals and two helpers. Bichsel also had a five-point night with two goals and three assist. Gill added two goals and
Tanner Jaramillo (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) added one to round out the Lourdes scoring.

Conner Mishler (Lambertville, Mich./Saint John's H.S.) made 13 saves in goal to earn the win for Lourdes while Joseph Dosen made nine stops for the Warriors. Lourdes outshot Indiana Tech 37-36 for the night.

The Gray Wolves held a 41-33 edge in ground balls, with Hilfinger and
Jay Fisher (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) each collecting eight.

Jace Childs led the Warriors with four goals and added two assists.

Lourdes (7-1, 1-0) heads to Davenport, Iowa on Friday afternoon as the Gray Wolves face Saint Ambrose. The opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m. EDT at Centennial Park.
