Lourdes improved to 8-1 on the season, winning its fifth straight contest on Friday afternoon as the Gray Wolves defeated Saint Ambrose 21-9 at Centennial Park in Davenport, Iowa.

"Today's game was a total team effort," head coach
Patrick Yannarelli said afterwards. "Everyone contributed top to bottom and played within the team's system."

Dalton Vowles (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) and
Jared Yoshino (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) both scored six times, with Vowles also adding three assists and the Gray Wolves never trailed in the contest. Vowles scored the only two goals in the first quarter, but Lourdes found the back of the cage six times in the second to build an 8-3 advantage at halftime.

Leading 12-6 midway through the third, Lourdes scored five times in less than three minutes as part of a nine-goal quarter while increasing the lead to 17-6.

Danny Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio/North H.S.) added four goals for the Gray Wolves while
Dylan Gill (Holland, Ohio/Saint Francis H.S.) tallied two more.Â
Mason Bryan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin H.S.),
Shea Schaefer (Saline, Mich./Saline H.S.), and
Reuben Lopez (Swanton, Ohio/Evergreen H.S.) added goals as well. Lopez's goal was the first of his career, and came with one second remaining in the contest.

Lourdes, ranked fifth in the latest NAIA poll, outshot Saint Ambrose 42-32, as
Conner Mishler (Lambertville, Mich./Saint John's H.S.) made 16 stops in the cage for the Gray Wolves.

Jay Fisher (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) collected 10 ground balls as Lourdes won that battle 36-28 for the day.

Quinn Coyle led Saint Ambrose (2-7) with three goals while Louis Mallillin made 12 saves in goal.

Lourdes (8-1) will return to Centennial Park on Saturday afternoon for a neutral site contest against Clarke. The opening faceoff is set for 12 p.m. EDT.Â
