Photo GalleryAn 8-2 Siena Heights run spanning two halves proved to be too much for Lourdes to overcome on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves dropped a 14-12 decision to the Saints at Wildcat Stadium.

Lourdes built an early three goal lead as five different players accounted for the Gray Wolves first five goals.
Anna Zofchak (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) tied the game at one while
Jessie Frost (Barberton, Ohio/Barberton H.S.) and
Alyssa Long (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.) put the Gray Wolves in front.  After the Saints cut the lead in half,
Haley Brown (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) and
Shelby Kellar (Holland, Ohio/Saint Ursula H.S.) scored 16 seconds apart to make it 5-2 Lourdes.

Siena Heights closed to within one, 6-5, before Long's third goal of the game gave Lourdes a two-goal lead with 7:05 to play before halftime.  The Saints tied the game at seven at the 4:04 mark, but Long added yet another tally 19 seconds later to regain the lead.

The Saints retied the game just before halftime and added the first three goals of the second half to build a lead they would not relinquish.  Lourdes battled down the stretch, with Brown adding her second goal of the game, Zofchak tallying two goals, and
Anna Marie Weber (North Canton, Ohio/Jackson H.S.) adding one more, but the Gray Wolves could not pull any closer than two the rest of the way.  Frost assisted on a pair of goals while Kellar also had a helper on the night.

Kayla Parks led Siena Heights (5-4, 1-3 WHAC) with seven goals.

Siena Heights held a 35-26 shot advantage, including a 20-11 edge in the second half.  The Saints also had the advantage in ground balls (24-21) and draw controls (17-11).

"The game comes down to ball control and the ability to get shots off," head coach
Paul Sieben said afterwards.  "We need to possess the ball more with greater control."

Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made 13 saves in goal for the Gray Wolves, including 10 in the second half.  Alyssa Hopkins made nine stops for the Saints.

"Kiley played a strong second half and kept us in the game," Sieben added.

Lourdes (4-6, 1-4) will begin the second half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face fourth-ranked Davenport.  The opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at the DU Turf Field.
